La Laguna – World Heritage Site of UNESCO

Program of the day
In the morning you will visit the sights of La Laguna on a guided walking tour through the historic center: Old Canarian mansions with their adorable interior courtyards (Patios), the cathedral and ancient monasteries are example of the Canarian arquitecture of the age of the conquest. This was a very good reason for UNESCO to declare the old town with the title of World Heritage Site. Afterwards the trip continues into the lush and green Mercedes forest, a so-called old “fairy tale forest”. On our hike you will discover the amazing green flora of this “laurisilva”: a mixture of laurel and heather trees. The transfer back will bring you on the mountain road along the ridge of the Anaga Mountains to the famous Teresita beach before arriving in your hotel in the south of the island.

Route of the hike

Close to the island’s capital Santa Cruz you will find the old and former capital of Tenerife – La Laguna. After the visit to the historic center, the tour leads you to the Anaga Mountains. On our hike of round about 1,5h through the green and lush forest you will discover the native flora of the north-east and the little visitor center Cruz del Carmen. This ancient “rainforest” is a region where you find evergreen laurel and heather trees, a real fairy-tale forest.

Details of the tour

Transfer from your hotel to the start of the tour and back. Guided walk through the historic center of La Laguna. Afterwards you will hike in the Anaga Mountains. All our hikes are organized with a tour guide in your language, who can inform you about Tenerife’s insights, flora and fauna and much more. We only work together with qualified guides who have lived on the island for many years or people who are locals from the island.

This tour costs 65,- € per person.

Children up to 11 years pay only 50%.

English speaking tour guide, transfer from/to your hotel in the south of Tenerife (Los Cristianos, Las Americas and Costa Adeje, please ask for other meeting points.)

The hike takes place on wide and comfortable forest tracks.

Ideal for beginners and families, a normal condition is required and there are no strenous passages on this tour.

Equipment

Hiking shoes or boots as well as hiking sticks can also be hired. Make your reservation! (3,- € per pair and 1,- € per stick)
Weather, sun and wind protection, in the north the temperatures can be cooler than in Tenerife’s south coast.

Please bring 1,5l per person for this tour.

Accident insurance for all participants is included in the tour price.
We recommend a small backpack.
