Hike to Spain´s highest summit – a must do on Tenerife!
This hiking tour starts on the road through the National Park in direction El Portillo at a level of 2 300 m. On the track which leads to the refuge your pass the “White Mountain” Montaña Blanca with the Teide eggs. The first part is not that steep and you walk over pumice and lava gravel. After round about 1,5 h the trail climbs steeper and you will reach your lunch break at the hut Refugio de Altavista. The further part is strenous over solidified lava flows and rocks to the mountain station of the cable car. You are able to reach the Teide summit only with a special permit, which will be organized by us. The views are amazing and with a bit of luck you will see the neighbour islands El Hierro, La Gomera, La Palma and Gran Canaria. After many photos and a rest on the peak you will take the cable car which brings you back down to the parking and starting level.
NEW restrictions for trail Nr. 7 from Montaña Blance are detailed on Tenerife On. All hikers need an additional permit for the complete trail!

Route of the hike
On this hiking tour you have to get over 1500 high meters and round about 11 km on loose lava ground and rocks. You will get to see a lunar landscape with practically no vegetation. If you feel comfortable in rough and rocky terrain, have some alpine experience and an excellent condition, this moutain tour will be ideal for you.

Prices
This tour costs 150,- € per person and is not recommendable for children or teenies under 16 years old. Extra costs are the cable car one way ticket for the descent for 23,- € per person.
Guide and Transfer
Extra costs 23,00 € for the cable car one-way ticket. If the cable car could not work due to strong winds or adverse climatic conditions you have to descent on the same trail.
In this case there will be no refund of the tour price.

11 km ascent on loose pumice gravel and lava rocks.
Difference of level: 1500 m ↑ 170 m ↓
Durance: (only hike): approx. 5-6 h

Please note that on this tour symptoms of high mountain sickness could occur!
An excellent fitness and no health problems are essential!

Equipment
Hiking shoes or boots are absolutely necessary. They also can be hired as well as hiking sticks. Make your reservation (3,- € per pair and 1,- € per stick)!

For the Teide summit tours you have to bring your original passport or ID. The mountain permit to access the Teide peak is organized by us and included in the price.
Accident insurance for all participants is included in the tour price.
We recommend a medium size backpack.
