Teno Mountains: Hike to Masca
“Who has not been to Masca has nothing seen!”
This is an old Tinerfenian saying, so let´s go. The dolphin cruise on Monday is a special highlight and end of the tour. This is our marvellous hiking tour from the Teno mountains to the village of Masca.
Masca – the most beautiful and idyllic village of Tenerife
After your pick up in the south of Tenerife our transfer will bring you in direction northwest of the island into the Teno mountains. The panoramic and very promising walking tour starts next to Santiago del Teide at the Erjos pass at a level of 1 117 m. You start on a comfortable forest track up to approx. 1 145m to the first summit the Gala, the highest peak of this hiking tour. From this point you have stunning views over the complete Teno mountains and La Gomera, maybe under perfect conditions also La Palma. The trail continues on the ridge, passing old fincas and farm houses through the typical green laurisilva (rainforest) vegetation of the west. A few minutes later you will get to see for the first time our destination, the famous village of Masca.

This hike takes place every Monday and Wednesday.

Here you can decide whether you continue hiking to Masca on an aprox. 1,5 km long descent on a gravel slope or you take the bus down to the village.
TOUR WEDNESDAY:
We have plenty of time to rest in the local bar „La Fuente“ and have a cool drink or coffee before we start the second adventure of the day:
The exciting drive on the famous mountain road from Masca to the highest view point „Mirador de Cherfe“. Here you have the last chance to take some amazing photos of Mount Teide, befor the bus will take you back to your hotel.
You will be back in the afternoon round about 4 p.m. to relax on the beach or in the swimming pool.
!! Please note: This tour on Wedneday is without the boat tour!!
The same tour takes place on Monday with a boat tour. If you want to spend more time in Masca village vote for the tour on Wednesday.
TOUR MONDAY:
After the hike and a short stop in Masca, the transfer bus will bring you to Los Gigantes, where a small boat is waiting for the group for a dolphin cruise.
The village and harbour is named after the gigantic cliffs “Los Gigantes” and offers you incredible views on this 600 meters high cliff line “Acantilados”.
You will watch for the dolphins, in their natural habitat. If you wish so or the temperature is right you will have the possibility to swim next to the Masca bay, so do not forget your swimming things.
Boat tour of an aprox. 1,5 hours.
Transfer back from Los Gigantes to your hotel in Costa Adeje of aprox. 30 minutes.
Route of the hike
The hike takes you on forest tracks and old goat trails. Not suitable for guests with strong vertigo.
Details of the tour
Transfer from start to end of the tour. All our hikes are organized with a tour guide in your language, who can inform you about Tenerife’s insights, flora and fauna and much more. We only work together with qualified guides who have lived on the island for many years or people who are locals from the island.
Prices
The tour on Monday costs 80,- € per person including the boat tour and dolphin cruise.
On Wednesday we organize the same hiking tour without the boat trip for the price of 65,- € per person. Lunch or coffee break in Masca is optional.
Children up to 11 years pay only 50%.

Technique and Condition
Ideal for beginners and families, a normal condition is required. If you feel comfortable in mountain terrain you will find no strenous passages on this tour (300 high meters climb in the beginning).

Hiking shoes or boots as well as hiking sticks can also be hired. Make your reservation! (3,- € per pair and 1,- € per stick)
